In 2020, Leeds United won promotion to the Premier League for the first time in 16 years — but COVID meant no parade, no celebration, no chance to share the moment with the fans who'd waited so long. Five years later, we made up for it.

On a Bank Holiday Monday in May 2025, somewhere between 150,000 and 300,000 people flooded the streets of Leeds. They came from Yorkshire, from across the UK, from around the world. They climbed lampposts, bus shelters, traffic lights — anything for a glimpse of the open-top buses carrying the players, the staff, the trophy. Yellow, white and blue smoke filled the air. The city belonged to Leeds.
